"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

But a general rule is, find some friends/watchers who do the same kind of art like you and you will be able to give and recieve useful criticism. e.g. traditional painters should search for other active painters and watch them, leave some comments on their works and it is likely you become devart friends.
